From Donegal Now
A picket will be held outside Donegal Fianna Fail Cllr Sean McEniff's Hotel in Dublin tomorrow following comments he made about the Traveller community.
Anti-Fascist Action Ireland along with a number of Traveller rights groups will hold the demonstration in front Cllr McEniff's Camden Court Hotel on Camden Street in Dublin at 2pm tomorrow afternoon.
The group says it's holding the event following alleged racist comments by the Cllr McEniff.
Local Councillor Sean mcEniff was at the centre of the controversy when he slammed the Council’s decision to buy the property for € 230,000 last month, claiming that traveler families should be housed in isolated areas. The house in question has been at the root of much controversy in the county, as Donegal County Council recently purchased it for the purposes of social housing.
The fire brigade was notified of the blaze at the premises in the Parkhill area shortly before 3am on Monday morning. It is believed that the house was unoccupied when the blaze broke out.
The fire crews from Bundoran and Ballyshannon were at the scene to battle the blaze.
Extensive damage was caused to the detached dormer house.
Fine Gael Councillor Barry O’Neill received a Mass Card with a sinister message in the aftermath of the incident on Monday.
Gardai have questioned a man in relation to the package.
It's believed the letter contains comments referring to the fire in Parkhill.
The matter is now under investigation.
