Travellers refuse to move from Courthouse Green car park - Warwickshire

From the Coventry Telegraph

A GROUP of Travellers refused to move from a car park in Coventry yesterday – despite receiving an eviction order from the council.

The Travellers moved on to the site of Coventry’s park and ride north in Courthouse Green with 11 caravans two weeks ago.

A notice to evict the group was served by bailiffs on Tuesday, ordering them to leave the site by 11am yesterday.

But the Travellers have stayed put and the city council says it has now begun trespass proceedings at County Court.

It was unable to say when a new notice might be served.

The Travellers moved their vehicles onto the Austin Drive car park, between Sainsbury’s supermarket and the AT7 sports centre, between Friday, February 1 and Saturday 2.

Despite the caravans taking up half of the park and ride car park, the facility, operated by West Midlands public transport authority Centro, has remained open, with some drivers parking cars in the neighbouring Sainsbury’s car park.
