TRAVELLERS have vacated land near a Bury St Edmunds housing estate which they occupied last week.
The group left the St Edmundsbury Borough Council owned site, in Symonds Road, after being served notice.
They were given until Monday morning to exit the land.
A spokeswoman for the authority said: “They were served notice on Thursday evening and left shortly after that.
“Waste management went out on Friday and collected neatly bagged waste. There was very little to clear from the empty site.”
The council plans to add a further two security bollards to the land, which is opposite the Ramada Hotel, to ‘better control’ vehicular access.
