South Lynn: Travellers’ camp on NORA land - Norfolk

From Lynn News

A TRAVELLING family set up camp close to a South Lynn roundabout on Tuesday.

Since arrival, four caravans have been parked on a piece of wasteland off the Nar Ouse Way.

The camp site is part of the Nar Ouse Regeneration Area, known as NORA, and is owned by West Norfolk Council.

A member of the family told the Lynn News on Tuesday that they will be moving on shortly and that they have nowhere else to go.

She also added that the Travellers’ site in nearby Saddlebow was full.

A spokesman for the council that officers had been in talks with the family.

She said yesterday: “We are aware of the situation and officers have attended the site to carry out preliminary assessments.

“We understand that the Travellers are intending to move on at some point today.

“Once we know where they have moved to we will carry out a further assessment to determine what action, if any, we need to take.”

The caravans were parked on land off the first roundabout along the Nar Ouse Way.
