Residents anger at Travellers' site plan - Hampshire

From the Southern Daily Echo

MORE than 40 letters of objection have been penned against a proposed Travellers’ site in Burridge.

Planning permission has been applied for to allow for a four-bed mobile home, measuring 60ft by 22ft, to be placed on a field near Burridge Road.

Residents have said that it would not be in keeping with nearby properties and say that the single-track access to the field is unsuitable.

The mobile home would be for a family of five, who say they have been looking for six years for a site close to one of their children’s schools in Durley.

The field belongs to the applicant’s mother.

More than 20 letters supporting the application have also been received, stating that the family lives in cramped conditions and the proposal would not adversely impact the local area.

Fareham Borough Council will consider the application at a meeting on Wednesday.
