A MAN has been hurt as a group of Travellers left Glazebury on Wednesday.
The group, believed to be from Accrington, started leaving land near to the M&S Warehouse on Wednesday lunchtime.
But police say a pedestrian was taken to hospital after being hit by one of the caravans while it was leaving.
He suffered injuries to both legs and was taken to Warrington Hospital where he was later discharged.
The Travellers have been in the Birchwood and Culcheth area for the past month.
They have moved from land by Birchwood Way, to the former Oliver Plumkett School, to Shaw Street in Culcheth and Glazebury afte council bosses served injunctions on them.
It is believed they have now left town for good.
Chief inspector Jon Ward said: "We have resources committed to investigating this incident and are keen to trace the driver of the van.
“I would urge the driver to come forward and make contact with ourselves so this matter can be progressed and the full circumstances of the incident can be established.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to remind local residents that the safety and well-being of our communities, including the Traveller communities in our area, remain our priority.”
Any witnesses or anyone with information should call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident 766 of April 18.
