From RTE News
A forensic examination is being carried out into a fire at a bungalow in south Kilkenny, which gardaí believe was deliberate.
The house on a half acre of land on the old Waterford/Kilkenny road was purchased last year by Kilkenny County Council as part of its Traveller housing scheme.
The council spent €110,000 on refurbishment work, which finished last week.
A man and his children, aged from eight to 16, were assigned the house in Kilmacow and began moving in last Friday morning.
The council said the house was broken into in the early hours of Saturday morning and it is believed a fire was started, which caused extensive damage to the building.
The family lost personal belongings, including photographs, in the blaze.
Gardaí have appealed to anyone with information to contact them at Mooncoin Garda Station at 051-1895122 or Thomastown Garda Station on 056-7754150
