Council worker: Bomb the Gypsies

A THUG council worker avoided jail yesterday after threatening to bomb Gypsies.

Web yob Neil Kerr faced being banged up after posting a chilling and racist tirade about Travellers on Facebook.

But he was let off with 150 hours' community service at Stonehaven Sheriff Court — despite having a previous conviction for sick comments about another minority group.

Kerr, 24, wrote on a Facebook page protesting about an illegal Gypsy camp in the Aberdeenshire town: "Neil Kerr suggests that everyone joins this page, won't make a difference, but if it does fail... baseball bats and petrol bombs anyone???"

The court also heard Kerr — who works as a catering boss and chef for Aberdeen City Council — referred to the Travellers as "pikeys".

Sheriff Peter Hammond said Kerr's behaviour had the potential to "provoke serious disorder".

He said: "This was a series of mindless and wholly unacceptable comments. You have a previous conviction, though the abuse was directed toward a different group.

"You show a propensity to behave in this way. You need some education in relation to your beliefs and actions."

But the sheriff stopped short of jailing Kerr after hearing his comments were not meant to be taken seriously.

An Aberdeen City Council spokesman last night declined to comment on Kerr's case.
