Travellers move on to site of disused hotel in Hemshore - Lancashire

From the Rossendale Free Press

Travellers have moved on to the site of a disused hotel in Hemshore.

Angry residents said seven caravans and three lorries turned up at Holden Vale Hotel and Conference Centre on Holcombe Road last night. It is not known how many travellers are there but they remain at the site. A 68-year-old resident, who lives in an apartment with her husband opposite where the Travellers are, said the police had been at the scene today. She said: “I don't know how many of them there are but there are lots of houses and apartments nearby. “We are all up in arms about it and want them moved from the site. It makes you a bit frightened about leaving your windows open." The lady, who didn't want to be named, added: “The police came over last night and said they can't do anything until the owners call the bailiffs and chuck them off."
