A popular swimming pool in Peterborough was forced to close at the weekend after Travellers set up camp on nearby land.
Bosses at Vivacity, which runs the city’s Regional Pool in Bishops Road near the Embankment shut the venue on Saturday afternoon (7 June) and all of Sunday.

Travellers leave Gunnersbury Park... for Blondin Park - London

Travellers last night left Gunnersbury Park, where they had been camped for three days, and headed straight for nearby Blondin Park.
More than a dozen caravans and vans arrived on Sunday evening in the south-east corner of Gunnersbury Park, in Gunnersbury Avenue, on the borders of Brentford and Acton.
Hounslow Council yesterday morning issued a legal notice giving them 24 hours in which to leave or face court action.
The situation escalated when the council closed the park just before 5pm due to safety fears, with reports of people racing cars around the grounds.

Police break-up huge Travellers' site at Wild Park - Suusex

Around 100 caravans were pitched on Wild Park and businesses and residents said some of the Travellers were causing problems.
Sussex Police issued a Section 61 eviction order to remove the Travellers from the park due to complaints about antisocial behaviour.

Cowling Farm site ‘wrong place for gypsy site’ - Lancashire

Plans for a permanent Gypsy and Traveller site costing more than half a million pounds in a rural area close to a pub and historic cottages have been revealed.
The project would see land at Cowling Farm, Cowling Road, Chorley transformed into five permanent residences for Gypsies and Travellers.
After being told to do so by a government-appointed planning inspector, Chorley Council has identified nine locations as part of the Local Plan process.

FIVE Travellers, one of them from Platt and the others from Tadworth, Horley, Windsor and Chertsey, are at the centre of a High Court test case being watched closely by local authorities and the travelling fraternity throughout the country.
The five have banded together in a David and Goliath battle with Communities Secretary Eric Pickles. They accuse him of wrongly refusing them planning permission for pitches against the recommendations of his own planning inspectors.
Mr Justice Lewis, was asked at the court in London today to quash Mr Pickles’ decisions in the five cases, and to order him to reconsider each application.

The group, who appeared today near Bedford Road, have been told to leave within 24 hours or face prosecution and having their vehicles towed away.
The common is visited by Travellers each year however camping overnight on the common, without council permission, is a criminal offence.

TRAVELLERS who have set up camp on a field near Truro say the council has treated them well, despite some villagers being furious at their arrival.
Half a dozen caravans, an asphalt lorry and a digger arrived at the site at Mitchell, which belongs to Cornwall Council but is leased to a farmer, on Sunday afternoon.

A group of Travellers who have fought a long-running battle to remain on land near Poulton were today told to be “under no illusion” they will be moved on.
Councillors in Fylde have voted to remove the families from the illegal caravan site in a behind-closed-doors meeting.
However, Fylde Council says it has no immediate plans to use force in order to get them to move off the land at Fairfield Road, Hardhorn.
A meeting of the authority’s development management committee, which was closed to the public, saw its members discuss the issue of the site.
