An eight week consultation is planned in the summer into proposals for further Gypsy and Traveller sites in the county, including two in East Dorset, both in the Green Belt.
One is for a single residential pitch off Crumpets Drive, Sturminster Marshall, near the boundary with Corfe Mullen, a privately owned strip of land contained within a cluster of various properties and a number of mature trees which will need to be retained. The access with the A350 is described as sub-standard due to very poor visibility in both directions, but manageable if visibility improvements are provided onto the main road. The assessment reported to East Dorset District Council's community committee on Tuesday says investigation will be needed of feasibility due to hedges, trees and third party land ownership.
