Travellers’ site shooting accused appear in court - Cambridgeshire

Tuesday, 5.30pm: The trial of a father and son accused of shooting three men has started at Peterborough Crown Court today (5 March).


John Smith (23) and Fred Smith (47), both of Edgerley Drain Road, Peterborough are accused of carrying out the shooting at Oxney Road Travellers Site on September 17 last year.

The court heard how witnesses claim the men both carried shot guns during the incident.

Tony Draper, Thomas Holmes and James Holmes all received gun shot wounds.

John Smith is charged with attempted murder, while both John and Fred Smith are charged with three counts of wounding with intent, and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

They deny all charges against them.

The trial continues.
