From the Evening Express
ABERDEEN City Council came under fire today after a controversial location for a permanent Travellers site was backed as a viable option – despite claims it was unsuitable.
The site at Scotstown Road in Bridge of Don had looked set to be rejected as being too small and unsafe during a discussion of possible locations at Aberdeen’s Town House.
But despite one controversial site – at Hazlehead – being thrown out, the Scotstown Road option was backed as one of four which will now go forward to a formal consultation process ahead of one being chosen.
At a meeting of the full council, it was agreed to also take sites at Blackdog, Springhill Road and Howes Road forward following a review of previous recommendations.
Speaking on behalf of Bridge of Don Community Council, Mark Duffy, who made a presentation to councillors, said: “I’m not over the moon that Scotstown is still on the table.”
