From the Burton Mail
PLANS have been submitted to increase the number of caravans at a Gypsy site in Overseal.
South Derbyshire District Council has been asked to approve the extension of a site on land off Park Road in Overseal to allow space for 10 caravans, including up to five static caravans.
It would mean the site expanding by 10 metres and a new hedgerow would be put up.
It is the second time this application has been before planners. It was refused last time as the site owner asked for permission to allow non-Travellers to live on the site as well as Travellers.
This application would simply allow an increase in the number of Traveller vans.
Philip Brown, agent for the application, said: “The proposal would be largely screened from public view by the existing roadside hedge. The site is, in any case, well-related to the settlement of Overseal.
“The application sit is clearly a very sustainable location for a Gypsy site.
“It would ensure the site remains available to meet the accommodation needs of the Gypsy community.”
