Traveller family drop electricity demand - Derbyshire

From the Derbyshire Telegraph

A family of Gypsies, who have been offered a temporary Traveller site in Rowsley, have dropped their request for electricity to be provided.

In June the Mercury reported that the family had accepted Derbyshire Dales District Council’s offer of a temporary Traveller site in Old Station Close, Rowsley – on the proviso that an electricity was provided.

A decision was supposed to be taken this Thursday, but today the family announced that they were dropping their request for electricity.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Dales District Council said: “The Travellers have now withdrawn their request for electricity at the temporary site in Rowsley. It means a report on all the costings associated with this site will now be presented to our Environment Committee on July 18.”
