From the Ashbourne News Telegraph
COUNCIL chiefs have postponed a meeting to decide on whether to allow a Travellers' site in Ashbourne, the News Telegraph can exclusively reveal.
Derbyshire Dales District Council's director of planning and housing has withdrawn the application from the Southern Area Planning Committee agenda, which was due to be discussed at a public meeting on Tuesday.
A district council spokesman has told the News Telegraph that the decision has been delayed to allow an extended period of time for public representations to be submitted and considered by planners.
A report will now be presented to the meeting of the Council’s Southern Area Planning Committee on Tuesday, December 11.
The spokesman said: "The District Council wishes to point out that this planning application has absolutely adhered to all necessary legal and constitutional procedures to date and that the delay in determining the application is solely to enable us to listen to the views of local people, a great many of whom have made representations in recent days."
