Calls for action as Travellers descend on Findon Valley once again - Sussex

From the Worthing Herald

Travellers have, once again, returned to a site in Findon Valley – months after a separate group left behind mess and damage.

The group, which is believed to include two caravans and a converted horse box, moved into The Gallops, Bost Hill, on Sunday evening.

A Worthing Borough Council spokesman said: “We are aware of the encampment at Bost Hill/Findon Gallops.

“We have started legal proceedings and are working alongside Sussex Police who have already made site visits. “The next step is to complete the necessary checks.”

It is believed the Travellers are waiting at the site until spaces become available at a Traveller site in Chichester.

It has not been suggested this group is the same as the Travellers who were evicted from The Gallops in July.

Maggie Winter, Findon Valley Residents’ Association planning and environmental officer, advised people to report updates to police and “keep their distance”.
