Emergency meeting - Derbyshire

From the Matlock Mercury

AN emergency meeting has been scheduled by Rowsley Parish Council after villagers learned that a temporary Travellers’ site was proposed for the village.

Last week, traders on Old Station Close, Rowsley, received letters stating that Derbyshire Dales District Council was proposing to allow a ‘temporary tolerated site’ for a Traveller family on land at the business park.

The news caused a great deal of concern for traders on site.

The meeting is to be held at 7pm on Wednesday, November 7, in Rowsley Village Hall and aims to give concerned traders and residents the opportunity to ask questions to a representative of the district council.

Roger Brown, clerk of Rowsley Parish Council, said: “There’s a lot of concerns in the village and a lot of questions we need to ask.”
