Council to take action to evict Travellers from site at Aberdeen park - Aberdeenshire

From the Evening Express

ABERDEEN City Council is to go to court in a bid to evict a group of Travellers after complaints from residents.

One councillor claims he has been told children were sworn at, chased and intimidated after an illegal Travellers’ encampment sprang up at Hazlehead Park.

Around 15 caravans arrived at the park’s car park, on Hazlehead Avenue, on Sunday afternoon – and councillors have received numerous reports of verbal abuse, reckless driving, and out of control dogs.

Hazlehead councillor Ross Thomson said: “Pupils have had abuse shouted at them, were being chased and someone was trying to take a photo on their phone of the pupils.”
