A TRAVELLER will have to pay more than £1,000 after he refused to move his illegal mobile home.
Mark Small, in his 40s, admitted breaching an enforcement notice from North Somerset Council demanding he moved his home to a neighbouring field in Puxton.
Sally Andrews, prosecuting, told North Somerset Courthouse on Friday that Small’s mother Anita owned two fields in the area and had planning permission for the north one where she lived.
Small, of Mays Green Lane, had set up his home on the southern field and despite several planning applications he was told the home, where his wife and three children also lived, must be moved.
The council gave him until August 2011 but when he failed to comply legal proceedings were started against him.
The court was told Small had been on benefits for several years since liver cirrhosis made him incapable of working.
He must pay £1,015 in total, including a £500 fine.
