Petition proves public support, says Traveller - Moray

A PETITION supporting a Travellers’ site on the outskirts of a Moray village has attracted nearly 300 signatures in a week.

The Stewart family bought a plot at Doohill, near Lhanbryde, in 2010, and have created spaces for six mobile homes and six touring caravans.

Moray Council refused planning permission for the development in February last year, a decision later backed by the Scottish Government.

The local authority is still considering whether or not to evict the Travellers, however, and the Stewart family claim they have been “left in limbo”.
