Notice served: Caravans will be removed in 28 days - Berkshire

From the Maidenhead Observer

Occupants of an illegal Travellers' site at Five Oaks Farm in Shurlock Road, Waltham St Lawrence have been served with a notice to leave.

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead council was legally required to give the families 28 days to leave before they could take direct action.

After this period, the council intends to remove caravans, vehicles, hardstanding, machinery and all other items from the site.

The notice was served to the occupants yesterday afternoon and to the land owner today.

The landowner will be liable to pay the council’s removal costs and the cost of returning the site to its original grassland condition.

Cllr MJ Saunders, cabinet member for planning and property, said: “While we appreciate many residents are frustrated by how long this land has been illegally occupied, as a council we have followed and continue to respect the due and proper process of the law."
