TWO Gypsy families have drawn up fresh plans to move their caravans to a derelict site in Flackwell Heath – after their previous application was rejected.
Neighbours of 128 Heath End Road are again mobilising to oppose the plans.
Wycombe District Council rejected the previous scheme in August, after which the Travellers lodged an appeal with the planning inspectorate.
That appeal is still pending, but the families have also submitted a new application to try to address the objections that were raised.
The new plan includes a repositioning of a day room and two mobile homes to protect trees at the site.
While the previous scheme was deemed to be ‘innappropriate development in the Green Belt’, the application argues the site was previously used as a plant nursery and is on the edge of the ‘settlement boundary’.
It also says landscaping is capable of offsetting the harm to the openness of the countryside.
A campaign group calling itself 'Flackwell Heath Residents Against Innappropriate Development' is again urging residents to write to the council and oppose the plans.
On its website the group argues the new plan "does not address the reasons for refusal to any large degree".
It says the positioning of the mobile homes and day room means they will be closer to the road and "increase the unwanted impact on the street scene".
As previously reported by the Bucks Free Press, the families have been facing eviction from an unauthorised site in Walters Ash.
