300 at Travellers’ trotting event - Yorkshire

From the Press

HUNDREDS of members of the travelling community took part in an annual social event in Selby this weekend.

About 300 people came to the area to take part in a Gypsy and Traveller “trotting” event, visiting pubs around the town, and travelling between them on horse and carts.

Ian Patterson, landlord of the Gipsy Moth in Flaxley Road, said: “It’s been really good. It was a great atmosphere, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many horses. There must have been more than 55. They asked if next year we can have a barbecue for the event. It’s been fantastic really.”
