Travellers vacate Bromsgrove town centre car park - Worcestershire

From the Bromsgrove Standard

THE TRAVELLERS who set up camp on the Recreation Road North car park in Bromsgrove Town Centte, opposite Asda, have now left the site.

The group departed on Sunday (June 30) two days after a hearing at Worcester County Court which saw Bromsgrove District Council granted an immediate permission order of the land.

The group, along with around 20 caravans, arrived on the car park last Friday (June 21), causing anger among residents who claimed they should be billed for parking on the site, as shoppers were.

One comment on our Facebook page read: "Close the car park off and charge them on a daily basis as we would be charged."

Another added: "I totally agree that Travellers should clean up after themselves and pay the parking charges."

A council spokesperson said the group left two days after the order was served.

"There were minimal clean-up costs as the group left the site in a tidy condition," she added.
