Travellers camping on Maidenhead Town Moor could be forced to leave the site following a court hearing due to be held on Thursday.
The Royal Borough has applied for a court order to remove the Travellers after approximately 20 caravans, along with two horses, pitched up at the site by Blackamoor Lane and Salter's Road on Thursday at about midday.
One of the Travellers, 50-year-old Dan Williams, told the Advertiser they would be leaving the moor yesterday.
Householders whose home back onto the moor, which is situated behind Maidenhead Police Station, have said they are becoming increasing worried about a build up of litter and horse manure.
Speaking yesterday Rosemary Abbot, who lives in Moorfield Terrace said: "My neighbour even found a horse in their garden.
“The horses are making a great job of cutting the moor but what goes in must come out and it keeps coming out at a rate of knots."
Rosemary, who is 77 and lives with her husband Colin, has said she has seen children trying to get into a garden and that the Travellers also have their own cockerel that ‘crows all the time’.
She added: "The fact that they were going to move today has gone out of the window."
The group had attended the Christian Light and Life festival, held in Market Lane in Langley, which finished on Saturday last week.
Last week, Mr Williams said the group had parked on the moor because they had nowhere else to go.
The court hearing will be held at Reading Magistrates Court at 10am on Thursday.
