Gypsy toilet given the go-ahead - Derbyshire

From the Burton Mail

A GYPSY site has been given the go-ahead to install another toilet despite the belief it could lead to more caravans.

The family, who occupy the Milend Caravan Site, in Derby Road, Hilton, applied to South Derbyshire District Council for permission for second toilet.

However, the application was bought to the council’s planning committee after a request by Councillor Julie Patten, who represents Hilton. The application had received one objection, saying the site already has toilet facilities.

Councillor Patten was not able to attend the meeting, but Councillor Michael Stanton said: “I believe she raised objection saying if you give permission, it would open the door for more.” However, Councillor Mick Bale, said: “There is only one toilet shared between 20 people. It is not an unreasonable request.”
