Travellers' Woodhill Way site to be extended under East Riding Council plans - Yorkshire

From the Hull Daily Mail

A Travellers' site in Cottingham could be refurbished and extended under new plans. East Riding Council wants to construct 12 amenity blocks, create a new warden's site office and provide a new utility block on the Woodhill Way Caravan Site.

The current buildings have problems with damp, ventilation and structural issues. As well as refurbishing the 23 pitches, a new permanent pitch would also be created. The council says there has been considerable consultation with both the travelling community and nearby residents.

In the design statement the council says: "This proposal will provide both replacement and upgraded facilities for the current pitches that currently no longer meet expected standards."

The local authority is also seeking a change of use of land adjacent to the site to create a temporary Travellers' site while the work takes place.

The council's planning committee will consider the application next month.
