THE decision about where to locate homeless Gypsy and Traveller families in Llanelli has been deferred.

Carmarthenshire Council's executive board opted to delay a decision about where to put a new Traveller site in the town for two weeks after questions were raised about why only two options were given to the councillors — despite officers looking at a total of 30 sites.

A council officer for social care and housing said: "We need to meet the needs for Gypsy and Traveller families in Carmarthenshire."
