Travellers move just half a mile to Elms Field - Berkshire

From Get Wokingham

A group of Travellers that settled in Langborough Recreation Ground last week has moved just half a mile to Elms Field.

Three caravans and two trailers are in the green off Elms Road this morning.

A Wokingham Borough Council spokeswoman said: "We are working with police and seeking legal advice."

A three-day music festival is scheduled to be held in Elms Field from Friday, June 28, to Sunday, June 30.

The Travellers ignored a formal request from Wokingham Town Council to leave Langborough Recreation Ground after they moved in on Tuesday, prompting the council to serve a notice stating they must move on by midday on Saturday.

A resident living near the recreation ground, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "They were still there after midday but they had gone by Sunday.

"They've not made a terrible mess, it's just a bit scruffy looking.

"All the children were playing with the kids from the caravans this weekend. People were a bit wary, and there was a slightly different atmosphere in the park, but they were all nice enough."
