Travellers drove caravan at security guard to get access to Kings Park - Dorset

From the Daily Echo

TRAVELLERS forced a security guard to one side and aimed a caravan straight at him to get access to a Bournemouth park.

A guard from Insight Security was forced to jump for cover during the incident at the gates to Kings Park on Monday night.

Staff from the Verwood security firm had been called in by Bournemouth council after three caravans set up in the park earlier in the day.

Operations Director Paul Stalker told the Daily Echo: “Our instructions were to let some vehicles through but to try to keep caravans and campers.

“A van with three males in it pulled up and they said they wanted to get into the car park.

“They pushed the guard out of the way, then drove in front of the gates so they couldn’t be closed and allowed a caravan behind them to be towed into the park.

“The guard tried to stand in the way but it was obvious the vehicle was not going to stop.”

Mr Stalker said the guard, Antonio Frietas, was not hurt but that it was reported to the police.

He added: “One of the Travellers involved apologised later and said they had not intended to cause any harm but they wanted to get their children to bed.”
