Traveller submits plans to extend Gypsy site in Weeley - Essex

A TRAVELLER has submitted plans to extend a Gypsy site in Weeley.

Tom Doran currently has permission for three caravan pitches on his land in Gutteridge Hall Lane.

But he now wants to extend the site to include another five pitches and a new dayroom building.

In a report, Mr Doran’s agent Tom Green said the extra pitches would meet a “recognised need for such facilities in the area to facilitate a Gypsy lifestyle”.

Mr Doran’s plans for a 20-pitch holiday park on a neighbouring site in Weeley were turned down in March.

Councillors raised fears that the move could turn the village into the “next Dale Farm”.

Green Planning Solutions said Mr Doran would not comment in relation to the application.

A decision on the plans is expected to be made by Tendring Council by October 1.
