Police were put on standby after Travellers’ site dispute reported - Northamptonshire

From the Harborough Mail

A large police presence along Clack Hill in Harborough got Twitter buzzing last night (Tuesday).

Several users of the social media website posted pictures of police cars and what were thought to be civilian vehicles in Kettering Road (colloquially known as Clack Hill) at about 9.30pm.

Several people tweeted the Leicestershire and Northamptonshire constabularies in a bid to find out what was going on.

A spokeswoman for Northants police said today that it was a police tactical point set up after reports of a dispute between neighbours at the Justin Park Travellers’ site in Harborough.

She said a “threat” had been reported but did not explain the exact nature of the threat.

Officers were on standby in case they were needed, but in the end the officers did not have to intervene.

The spokeswoman said police had been down to the Travellers’ site, off Northampton Road, again today (Wednesday) to monitor the situation.
