Councillors give go-ahead to Travellers' sites in Warwickshire

From the Coventry Telegraph

Land at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre and Leamington Football Club look all but set to become dedicated Travellers’ sites after plans were approved by Warwick District Council.

The council’s executive committee gave the green light to eight plots of land becoming permanent sites for Travellers at a meeting last night.

As well as the exhibition centre, off the Fosse Way, and the football club at Harbury Lane, the other sites are: Tachbrook Hill Farm in Bishops Tachbrook; off Westham Lane in Barford; off Europa Way in Leamington; off Birmingham Road in Budbrooke; Brookside Willows; and off the Barford bypass.

A recent assessment found that 31 permanent pitches were needed in the district over a 15-year period.

A public consultation is expected to start later this month.
