Called off: Monday's Shurlock Road Travellers eviction - Berkshire

From the Maidenhead Advertiser

A planned eviction of Travellers from an illegal site in Shurlock Road has being called off.

The Royal Borough announced today it has received a High Court order prohibiting direct action to be taken at the Traveller site which was planned for Monday.

It follows an application by two of the occupants of the camp to suspend action until the court decides whether to give permission for a judicial review.

The council has 21 days to respond to the court.

Cllr MJ Saunders, cabinet member for planning and property, said: "As a council we have followed and continue to respect the due and proper process of the law."

The borough made its decision to take direct action following a meeting of the cabinet prioritisation sub committee on Wednesday.
