Traveller and Gypsy sites to be discussed - Gloucestershire

THE future ownership of Gypsy and Traveller sites in the county will be discussed by councillors next week.

Gloucestershire County Council's cabinet will look at passing ownership and management responsibilities for four sites in the county to a registered housing provider.

The sites are Culkerton, near Tetbury; The Willows and Cursey Lane in Severn Vale and Showborough, near Tewkesbury.

Members want to secure long term investment, that is not available to the council, to improve the sites.

A report released ahead of the meeting on Wednesday states there is also a current outstanding maintenance backlog of £250,000 collectively on the sites.

There are over 70 licence plot holders on the four council sites, with the number of people dwelling on the sites is estimated to be around 300 at any one time.

The cabinet meeting will be held at 10am in Shire Hall.
