A group of Travellers who set up an illegal encampment in Allerton Bywater has been forced to move following joint action by the police and council.

Their presence has prompted a number of complaints to the council and police about noise and anti-social behaviour.
Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team have liaised with Leeds City Council and the city’s community safety partnership Safer Leeds to address the issue.
As a result the Travellers were served with a notice under Section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order 1994 yesterday that required them to leave by today. The service of the notice and conversations between the Travellers and police were cordial and all Travellers left the site earlier today without incident.
