Pickles scuppers Otford Gypsy site plans - Kent

ERIC Pickles has waded into a long-running planning wrangle and ruled against an Otford Gypsy site.

Anne Wenham and James Arnold had turned to the communities secretary after both Sevenoaks District Council and Government inspectors threw out their bid to put a mobile home, touring caravan and utility building on Hopgarden Farm.

But in a judgement last week, the Government supremo backed the earlier rulings - and even refused to grant the couple, who are occupying the site in Telston Lane, temporary planning permission while they make alternative living arrangements.
