Limerick Travellers ‘want to stay on site’ - Ireland

ASSERTIONS by city councillors that Travellers want to leave Rhebogue halting site have been rejected by the Irish Traveller Movement.

At Limerick City Council on Monday, members adopted the Traveller accommodation programme for Limerick – but only after city manager Conn Murray proposed an 11th hour compromise amendment which councillors say effectively commits to closing the Rhebogue site.

The plan had originally envisaged refurbishing and building new units in Rhebogue but councillors warned they would throw out the plan if this was included.
