Gypsy-Travellers received £5,260 planning appeal pay-out from Swansea Council

A GYPSY-TRAVELLER family won more than £5,000 costs from Swansea Council after winning a planning appeal, it has emerged.

Appellant Mervyn Thomas won his bid to build four pitches in Birchgrove after contesting a decision by planning officers to reject the plans.

The £5,260 awarded in appeal costs is the second largest such sum paid out by the council in three years.
