Bury St Edmunds/Great Barton: Travellers move on from temporary site - Suffolk

From EADT24

Travellers who were living at a temporary site on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds have moved on.

The site in Orttewell Road, near Great Barton and Moreton Hall in Bury, was agreed for a Traveller family who had been moving around borough-council-owned sites in the Bury area.

Councillor Anne Gower, St Edmundsbury Borough Council cabinet member for housing, said: “The temporary toleration agreement and all its conditions which was agreed between the Travellers and Suffolk County Council, as landowners, has worked well and the Travellers have moved on before the end date. I understand the site was swept and left clear and tidy which is also helpful.”

Councillor Rebecca Hopfensperger, Suffolk County Council’s cabinet member for localities, added: “I’m glad to that the temporary toleration agreement between the Travellers, Suffolk County Council as landowners and St Edmundsbury Borough Council was abided by and went smoothly.”
