Travellers face being evicted from a Patcham playing field.
About 50 caravans set up camp at Braypool sports ground, near the A23, over the weekend. But Brighton and Hove City Council confirmed yesterday it had secured a section 61 order.
It means the police are legally allowed to evict the Travellers from the site. A spokesman said:“We are working closely with the police to secure an eviction as soon as possible.”
The council has already had to use a similar order to remove Travellers from Stanmer Park two weeks ago.
