Travellers who set up camp in more than 30 caravans in a small hamlet in Staffordshire have moved overnight after being served an order by police – leaving behind piles of rubbish.
It comes a day after another group of Travellers left a school car park after causing chaos for parents.
The caravans had pitched up on fields in Middle Hill, Cheslyn Hay, last week but were ordered to leave by police yesterday.
Residents said they were seen packing up at about 8pm yesterday.
The Travellers at Cheslyn Hay Sport and Community High School had pitched up on the site’s coach park last Wednesday and left on Monday night after they were also served with an order.
A pile of about eight bin bags was left by the entrance to the field today.
Middle Hill resident Tim Wright said: “We are glad they’ve gone. They always seem to leave a mess and that’s why people don’t like them being around.”
Residents said that while the Travellers had caused no trouble, they had set two bonfires on the side of the road.
