Ministers should show leadership over Travellers issue says N-east MSP - Scotland

From the Evening Express

SCOTLAND’S housing minister has failed to show leadership in addressing unauthorised Traveller sites, a North-east MSP said today.

The attack came as the Evening Express uncovered details of five Traveller groups criss-crossing the region to set up illicit camps.

North-east Labour MSP Richard Baker wrote to Scottish Government ministers to ask what support was available for the local authority.

But Housing Minister Margaret Burgess told him Aberdeen City Council was the key decision-maker.

Mr Baker said the Scottish Government’s response was “pathetic”.
