Hatfield funeral of murder victim featured on My Big Fat Gypsy Christening TV show - Hertfordshire

From the Welwyn Hatfield Times

THE Hatfield funeral of a man who was murdered at a caravan site was shown on Channel 4 last night (Tuesday).

Clips of mourners paying tribute to Thomas Ward, who was shot dead in Dyes Lane, Stevenage, in April, were aired on My Big Fat Gypsy Christening at 9pm.

The programme – a spin off of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding – documented travelling communities’ attitudes to birth and death, focused on Thomas, who was killed five days after the birth of his first child Lilly.

Hundreds of family and friends turned out for the 21-year-old’s funeral at St Peter’s Catholic Church in Hatfield, which was held in June.

The episode is being repeated tonight on 4seven at 9pm and is available to view on 4OD for the next month.

Investigations into the murder continue and follow an appeal on BBC’s Crimestoppers in May.

Police revealed they are looking for Thomas’ second cousin John Boy Ward, 32, and his wife Joleen, 21, in connection with Thomas’ death.

The couple’s last known address was Clarkson Court in Hatfield.
