TRAVELLERS have set up a camp of around 12 caravans on Beach Green in Lancing today (Thursday, June 14).
It is believed it is the same group who tried to invade Shoreham farmer Dave Dawson’s land yesterday (Wednesday, June 13) before he chased them off with a digger.
A spokeswoman for Worthing Borough Council said it had been instructed by Lancing Parish Council to start the process of removing the travellers and that welfare checks would be carried out on them later today.
Each caravan will then be served with a letter asking the occupants to leave the site. If they do not, the council will then consider whether it is appropriate to take legal action to obtain a court order for their eviction.
